Josey combines unmatched courtroom advocacy and negotiation expertise with a naturally empathetic personality which enables her to both connect with her clients and understand the motivations of party opponents. Josey executes her legal practice with a careful eye toward human psychology and utilizes her natural instincts to expeditiously and effectively identify the needs and concerns of clients; the strategy and tactics of opposing counsel and parties; and the unique habits and preferences of the judges she appears before on a consistent basis. Josey, who demonstrates remarkable poise under pressure, hones and refines these abilities to balance aggressive advocacy with thoughtful and compassionate counsel for her clients.
Josey, a former professionally trained chef, began developing her legal expertise long before her admission to the New Hampshire Supreme Court and Massachusetts Bar, and soon after emerged as a legal powerhouse in Massachusetts and New Hampshire courtrooms. Josey graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bridgewater State University with a double-major in Criminal Justice and Communications, and a minor in Psychology, before earning her Juris Doctorate and several awards and accolades at Boston’s New England School of Law including the CALI Excellence Award; Most Promising Mediator; and the Dean’s Merit Scholarship each year.
After graduation, Josey worked for two small firms in Massachusetts before founding JLP | Law, PLLC and then partnering with Attorney Thomas E. Dewhurst of The Law Offices of Thomas E. Dewhurst III, PLLC in Conway, New Hampshire. Josey focused specifically on serving families in family matters including Custody Disputes, Divorce, and Child Support since 2017, but broadened her practice areas upon joining The Law Offices of Thomas E. Dewhurst III, PLLC. Josey also acts as of counsel and trial support for several Massachusetts practitioners and firms that recognize her superior trial advocacy and organizational skills.
Josey was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada and relocated to Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2000, where she met her husband, an Abington, Massachusetts native and now retired law enforcement officer after 32 years of service. In 2020, Josey started forming JLP | Law, PLLC in Conway, New Hampshire, where she and her husband built their new home together. Josey joined forces with The Law Offices of Thomas E. Dewhurst III, PLLC in November of 2022. Josey is actively involved in animal rescue and takes great pride in engaging with and giving back to her community.
